Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status thanks to his folk-inspired songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a hit and have attracted many fans to Colorado. I don't think there's any another performer in the world who is as empathetic to Colorado as well as John Denver said G. Brown Curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of fame ever inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state across the globe. Certainly in my travels you come across someone from another end of the planet, someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief involvement in a folk group it was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff first wrote the track using Johnny Cash's songs in the back of his mind, however Denver recognized from the first time he heard earlier versions that the track could be a huge success. Danoff recorded the track only a few days afterward after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
