Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. He combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B for a distinctive mixture. From Broadway to European clubs and festivals, the singer has done work everywhere. Sunshine has been born Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her career in music by playing the piano and singing in the church. After graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she started her journey in music on the Atlanta's R&B music scene. In 2005 she was hired to be the main keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the director of the choral group for the stage production. Sunshine rose to prominence throughout the four performances during the The 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine went on to sing during the 2009 Obama Inauguration.
